Terror in the cornfield, on PC, PS4, and Xbox One You can learn more by checking out our hands-on impressions with the title.
This time around the hero is Blake Langerman, who alongside his wife Lynn is investigating the death of a pregnant Jane Doe when the two are trapped in the Arizona desert far from anything friendly, the whole thing has a distinctly baptist come to the rapture tone with a bit more of a focus on open environments and rural communities in contrast to the original game’s claustrophobic asylum settings.
Outlast 2 follows a similar formula to the original title, throwing an unfortunate camerman into a hellish nightmare, helpless aside from a camcorder equipped with limited night vision and the wits of the truly terrified. If Outlast 2 is anything like its predecessor it’s going to be more than enough game to scare the pants off of even the most stalwart adventure journalists, and thanks to developer Red Barrel Studio’s love of all things scary fans and phantoms alike can now access the official game demo on all platforms for the entire month of Spooktober, along with a fresh batch of comic books exploring the inner workings of the Murkoff corporation before the events of the original Outlast.
